PIRATE QUEEN (Norman Hughes) Diploid 35” 7” M. Re Dormant (Star of Bethlehem x Emerald Starburst) The rounder of Norman's two diploid introductions for this year, the huge green throat sets the show for PIRATE QUEEN. Fertile both ways, in our garden last year we had three lateral branches and 18 buds per scape. Norman Hughes has perhaps the strongest red tetraploid program in the country and hopefully he will allow me to introduce some of these in the near future. In the short run we hope to incorporate the genes of PIRATE QUEEN and MIDNIGHT HOUR into our current tetraploid lines. Somehow the excitement with new genetics never seems to end. |
