(Dan Trimmer, 2004). Tetraploid (Pumpkin Moonshine X Raspberry Beret) 21” EM. Re. Sev. This is the third and final introduction from this cross. The typical 20 blooms of VOLCANO QUEEN sit just atop the leaves with 5 ¾-6” blooms opening with a shocking combination of dark orange and dark red. Two of my big concerns I apply when I select seedlings are color impact and scapes well up from the leaves. In the case of VOLCANO QUEEN the color is so striking and vivid that I had to overlook blooms out of, but close to the foliage. I’ve seen nothing else resembling this flower. A favorite of garden visitors. |
